THE AMERICAN MUSICIANSHIP SUITE™
The American Musicianship Suite™ is an American educational non-profit offering a curriculum/program for pre-collegiate musicianship training in The United States. It fills the need for an authentically domestic, non-profit musicianship program of unparalleled quality—which is supported by a standardized, practical, comprehensive curriculum. The American Musicianship Suite™ is comprised of two parts: Part One: Beginning Musicianship™ and Part Two: Advanced Musicianship™.
Part One: Beginning Musicianship™ is a meticulously graduated musicianship program/curriculum for use in community music schools and arts-centric grade schools, junior highs, and high schools. It consists of five cumulative volumes complete with teacher guides, study materials, and testing materials. The Beginning Musicianship program/curriculum systematically cultivates the skills and awareness that comprise basic musicianship and musical literacy—while developing awareness of western musical style, history, and repertoire. Beginning Musicianship is ideal for use in conjunction with beginning-level and intermediate-level applied instrumental study. It may be regarded as a sophisticated terminal course in musicianship for avocational musical pursuit.
Part Two: Advanced Musicianship™ is a meticulously graduated musicianship program/curriculum for use in advanced community music school programs and advanced arts high school music programs. Completion of The American Musicianship Suite Part One: Beginning Musicianship is prerequisite for Part Two: Advanced Musicianship. Advanced Musicianship consists of five cumulative volumes complete with teacher guides, study materials, and testing materials. The Advanced Musicianship program/curriculum systematically cultivates the skills and awareness that comprise advanced musicianship and musical literacy—while developing familiarity with western musical style, history, and repertoire. Advanced Musicianship meets and exceeds requirements for the American advanced placement test in music theory (the “AP music theory test”). It is ideal for use in conjunction with intermediate-level and advanced-level applied instrumental study. It may be regarded as a sophisticated course in musicianship for pre-collegiate students who plan to pursue music professionally.

“The American Musicianship Suite™ is the end result of many years devoted to developing a pre-college comprehensive musicianship program in elementary and secondary music education. Whereas such an approach has been developed and functioning at the college level for decades, a proper preparatory pre-college program has been, and remains to date, sorely lacking. Subsequent to formidable expertise, exhaustive research, imagination, and creativity, there is now just such a program—in depth, thoroughly systematic and practical. It would decidedly be a blessing for this work to be adopted nationally and internationally, as it would serve not only the interest of music education per se, but would also provide all students with the multitude of extra-musical benefits which automatically flow from the musical discipline.”
